We called any heavy boots with the rugged treaded soles "waffle-stompers". Especially the hiking-style boots that were popular in the later 70s.
Just found an almost new pair at a flea market near my home. I wanted to smoke a doobie when I put em on!!
I bought many pairs of waffle stompers when I was in high school and after. I loved the look in my bell bottom pants and flair jeans. I want another pair! I miss those days!
