Description: Velour tops in a range of single coloured, or ones with multiple coloured strips. Usually with ribbed round the neck line, ribbed at the end of the sleeves and at the bottom waist bend. They felt "very smooth" to touch.

There were all kinds of velour garments in the mid- to late 70s, mostly tops, but also dresses and jackets. I had a couple of velour pullover shirts, one with copper-colored horizontal stripes and another in pine green. And velour tracksuits were popular at the time, too, which I guess is where you may have seen the velour windbreakers/windcheaters mentioned in your title.
