Boy do I remember these! My best friend & I had matching pairs. Tight 501s, our Dads' plain pocket T shirts, and oxfords. We lived in those clothes!

I remember various styles of oxfords being worn throughout the 70s by women, but I really remember the "jazz oxfords" popular in the early 80s for men and women. These were very simple, soft leather, minimally-constructed, dancer-style oxfords with a very thin sole and almost no heel, usually in black or red. It was very important that the sole and heel be very thin, to show that you were not naff enough to still be wearing 70s platforms.
